So happy to see find this!
My grandmother was a Black Rosie the Riverter!! I came in search of a podcast that might lead me other black Rosie descendants and inform my knowledge further of the total story! Thank you for this! My grandmother, Bennie Ruth Lynn-Jay from Fort Worth, Texas was a journeyman welder! She worked at the ship yard in San Francisco. She moved her two daughters from Texas to New Mexico and eventually to Arizona, with a relative, so they would be nearer to her on the west coast. She had an awful accident where she fell from the top decks of the ship to a lower deck metal pile. She broke her leg in a couple of places and sustain other more minor injuries. It was with the money payout that she received from that injury that she purchased to two lot land that she will build her home, at 1712 Lloyd Ave. Fort Worth, Texas! A proud accomplishment! My grandmother was 4 foot 11 of pure strength and power! My family is very proud of the little woman that we all descend from! Thank you for recognizing for all of us the importance of honoring of your mom and grandmother, and ours❣️
Why Are They So Angry?
Carol and her niece, Kourtney, put personality, expression and gentle humor, along with little known facts into their podcasts. Black history, with various topics, vary a bit in length, but generally about 1/2 hour. Research is spot on and the voices of Carol and Kourtney are easy to listen to; the listener is always enriched in their knowledge of Black history within American History.

“Presidents Behaving Bad”
What a great podcast! This podcast is very informative, and it is presented in an informal and factual manner. I love the interaction between this dynamic duo. Both the aunt and niece have done their homework and present information concisely with a focus on understanding. Excellent lesson!
Advanced History Lessons!
Carol and Kourtney’s discussions of long overlooked issues that have real, concrete impacts on how our lives are lives today. This is not just history, but how that history shapes what we do today - and how we can start to do life better. Thank you, Carol & Kourtney!
Why are they so Angry
An excellent resources if you want to truly LEARN more about systemic racism through facts, stories and personal experiences.
Why are they so Angry?
This podcast was outstanding because it gave you the foundation to understand systemic racism in America. Dr. Carol Francois and Kourtney Square jump right in and explain some key terms for all of us to understand in more depth the word bias, prejudice, bigotry and racism. They take you on a journey beginning in 1619 when African Americans first landed on American soil and help define these four important words used in our culture today. I can’t wait to hear more from this dynamic duo, of Aunt Carol and niece Kourtney, as they travel through the key systems that have embodied these four key terms and abused their use on the African American race along the way in 401 years of history. I’m anxious to learn more and help fight systemic racism today after getting a deeper understanding of African Americans not taught to us in the general glossed over history books and hearing first hand from authors who have interviewed first and second generation African Americans who have lived through these atrocities. I seek first to understand through researched, document based, factual information and then I can make informed decisions on how to help make change. This podcast and future ones will be a great resource along my journey.
